Service Centre Gentbrugge
The architectural heritage of the modernist complex by Paul Felix in Gentbrugge is revalidated through its renovation as well as reorientation.
A new distinct volume is added to the ensemble, which shapes a central courtyard by defining its boundaries on the fourth side. This intervention generates a buffer to the nearby highway and takes inspiration from the existing architectural language with its horizontal lines and continuous windows.
Furthermore it is a wooden structure with zero emissions, which makes it a forward-looking and exemplary project. Pathways lead passersby from the surrounding greenery into the heart of the site, which houses amongst others as a school, polyvalent space and library.
