As part of a district initiative to revitalize the neighborhood, a housing compound in Schaarbeek is converted into a passive day care and apartments.

In order to overcome the strict fire regulations, our design formulates the total program on the ground level in combination with four precisely positioned patios. In this way the childcare becomes a connected educational landscape, in which the patios, mediate between three main educational areas, enable lively natural lightning and social interaction.

The project is topped by a green roof landscape providing a pleasant learning environment for the kids and creating value for the neighborhood.
